The 2002 Civil Code: Its reflections on the Human Rights of Women

The Turkish Civil Code put into effect in 1 January 2002 made many Amendments to the former Civil Code. The Code also introduced changes regarding women and family. While making amendments, the equality of genders was a concern and new rules were introduced about that. This study to discusses the changes to what they articulate or disclose and what they produce on. To understand how the New Code changed women’s everyday lives, the law with its legislative process, national and international developments and the legal history of the women’s movements in Turkey were examined.

2002 Medeni Kanunu: Kadinin Insan Haklarina Yansımaları

1 Ocak 2002 tarihinde yürürlüge giren Türk Medeni Kanununda, önceki yasaya göre çesitli iyilestirmeler yapmistir. Yasa kadin ve aile bakimindan da önemli yenilikler getirmistir. Yeni kurallar cinsiyet esitligi ile iliskili olarak degistirilmistir. Bu çalismada Medeni Yasada kadinlarla ilgili olarak yapilan degisiklikleri ve ne bunlarin ne ifade ettigini tartismak istiyorum. Yasanin kadinin gündelik yasamina getireceklerini anlamak için, yasalasma sürecini, bu süreci etkileyen ulusal ve uluslararasi gelismeleri ve Türkiye’de kadin hareketinin yasal tarihini birlikte degerlendirecegim.
